Animals with Attitude is a world-class public art event set to inspire and excite the City of Gold Coast, as a new population of quirky and colourful giant Koalas take up residence in 2015 to help raise awareness and funding for Currumbin Hospital Foundation. Following on from the success of the 2013 event, the Foundation is planning a second sculpture trail, featuring 30 larger-than-life themed Koalas designed and painted by local and national artists, and supported by Swell Sculpture Festival, Connecting Southern Gold Coast, Bleach Festival, Broadbeach Alliance and Surfers Paradise Alliance. Many of the 2013 Koalas are still on display around the Gold Coast.
Celebrating the partnership between Currumbin RSL and Currumbin Wildlife Hospital Foundation, Little Digger, is the first of the AWA 2015 sculptures and was commissioned by Currumbin RSL as part of the ANZAC Centenary commemorations, where Currumbin will host one of the largest dawn services in April 2015. Artist Scott Maxwell designed and painted both of the sculptures that were created and made by Academy Award winner John Cox, at his Creature WorkShop on the Gold Coast.
Partnership opportunities are also available for organisations wishing to secure their very own koala sculpture, and help make a difference towards the future of Australia’s native wildlife. Visit the Animals with Attitude Facebook page for more details, on how you can experience this amazing art exhibit and be a part of our efforts to raise funding and awareness for the wildlife hospital.
