This has to be the best way to see part of Australia’s Green Cauldron. View this world class hinterland by air. Fly along a series of breathtaking escarpments, mountains and valleys fanning out from the Southern Gold Coast, north and west over 150kms along the QLD/NSW state border. We will depart the Gold Coast and climb high, to fly above Sub-tropical rainforests, spectacular plateaux, many of which make up our famous World Heritage listed areas. After following this ridge line, we will bank left to see a view of Mount Warning in front of us. Towering above the Green Cauldron at 3,793 feet, this Peak was once twice the size, but over 20 million years the wind and rain carved out a huge bowl around this central Peak. From here we will head to the town of Murwillumbah, where we will descend to 500 feet and follow the meandering beautiful Tweed River to Point Danger (named by Capt James Cook, as he nearly ran into reef which was formed from the lava flow from the Mount Warning Volcano). From here we will rush North along the magnificent beaches, watching the local surfers at the famous Snapper Rocks, home of the “Quick Silver Pro” surfing contest, Kirra Beach and up to Bilinga, before banking the aircraft left and heading back home to Coolangatta.

Step aboard your Helicopter, to fly high above and learn
about “Australia’s Green Cauldron”. Find yourself immersed in this landscape,
which is a mysterious melting pot of rich volcanic earth, deep green
rainforest, breathtaking scenery, shining blue waters, diverse and “culturally
rich” communities, and rare Gondwanan (prehistoric) wildlife.
As we leave the blue of the ocean, be sure to look to the
right where you will see a series of breathtaking escarpments, mountains and
valleys fanning out from the Southern Gold Coast.
At the heart of this landscape lies the majestic
Wollumbin Mt Warning, the first point on the Australian continent to be lit up
by the rays of the morning sun. For the Bundjalong Nation and other Aboriginal
tribes, the name Wollumbin has several meanings, including “Cloud Catcher”. As
we climb to 4000 feet, you will fly so close to the top of this “cloud catcher”
you will feel like you can touch it. This magnificent landscape was created
from an ancient caldera – the eroded remains of an extinct shield volcano.
There is no other way that you can experience this view, but from a helicopter.
On heading East, mountain rainforests give way to a
spectacular marine environment, we will descend to 500feet to follow the
meandering Tweed River back to Point Danger, with views to Cook Island, which
is home to loggerhead turtles, bottle-nosed dolphins and the endangered grey
nurse shark.
From here, we will follow the Coast North along the
famous surfing breaks of “Snapper Rocks” and “Kirra Point” and get a bird’s eye
view of the action, before landing back at Coolangatta.
This is truly our premium flight that captures everything
that this region can showcase, one that really should be experienced.
