History - Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is one of Queensland’s oldest tourist parks with a rich history of creating wonderful memories for many Australians. Established in 1947 by our founder Alex Griffiths, our park is able to offer excellent history lessons to share information about its foundation and growth over the years.
As part of your History Booking, we will send you “A Man of Vision” DVD to show to your students in your classroom as a pre-visit activity. This 20 minute documentary is a biography of Alex Griffiths and reveals a story about his life, his foresight and passion for animals. Then, when you visit Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, our education officers will deliver a PowerPoint education lesson to your students which highlight historical photos, maps and engagement with the local community. Accompany this with our Aboriginal Appreciation Experience (below) and your CWS history lesson will cover the indigenous culture and early settlement here on the Gold Coast.
Find out more about our history program by downloading the information and booking sheet (277.2kb PDF) then fax back to (07) 5598 1764.
