Work Experience at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and Currumbin Wildlife Hospital.
Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is an organisation that takes pride in assisting our community in a variety of ways; through providing care and welfare services to Australian wildlife, providing education and fun to our local and international visitors, and supporting the provision of a variety of education opportunities for those seeking to improve or experience knowledge of what is it like to work in a Wildlife Sanctuary and at a Wildlife Veterinary Hospital.
We provide three types of work experience opportunity at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, as a community service to students interested in caring for Australian Wildlife or working within a Wildlife Park or Wildlife Hospital;
Wildlife Hospital work experience for Clinical year vet students only. Please read the details of the program below before emailing your resume and availability to our Wildlife Hospital Coordinator. Please email your resume todkennelly@cws.org.au Click here for more information about this program.
Additional points to note:
We do not offer any other work experience at the Sanctuary outside the above three programs. No admin, retail, food & beverage, horticulture or maintenance work experience is offered.
The Veterinary Hospital does not offer work experience to High School students.
Accomodation: One budget option to consider is the YHA Youth Hostel at Coolangatta airport. It is about a 15 minute bike ride (they hire the bikes at the hostel). It’s a fair walk but students have walked from there every day. There are many other accommodation options as this is a tourist area – we recommend you do an internet search.
Transport options: You can travel using public transport to the sanctuary. We are on the Gold Coast highway which makes getting buses reasonably reliable. See the following website for bus time info: http://www.transinfo.qld.gov.au/. There is car parking available on site if required.
